Asset: Wrist/Ankle Weights

Published by t2lindahamilton under Assets Edit This

I have a set of wrist/ankle weights that weigh five pounds each.

Just strapping them around my ankles when I get up in the morning and wearing them throughout the course of the day could kill quite a few calories.

Wearing them around my ankles during an aerobic dance program, like Dance Dance revolution, could add a good bit of extra resistance.

Wearing them on my wrists while doing Wii Boxing could add extra resistance to what is already a great upper body aerobic exercise.  There is also the option of wearing them on my ankles while boxing to provide a great full-body aerobic workout.

Asset: Wii & XBox

Published by t2lindahamilton under Assets Edit This

Most people think of these things as just video game systems but not me!

I have both a Wii and an Xbox in the house and I have the software I need to make these game systems really fun exercise systems.

I have Dance Dance Revolution for the Xbox.  I love playing this game and easily work up a sweat within the first twenty minutes of playing.  This is a great calorie burner for me.

I have Wii Sports for the Wii and love the boxing and boxing training programs.  This will add some punch to my aerobics workouts.  (Sorry, I couldn’t resist.)

Asset: Preschooler

Published by t2lindahamilton under Assets Edit This

Just like the baby, the preschooler can be an asset too.

He weighs 50 pounds so he can add a good bit of weight to a workout.  Piggy-back rides up and down the stairs could be an excellent leg workout.  Just piggy-backing around the house at a good clip could be a great workout.

I can use him for additional weight in donkey calf raises, lunges, squats, leg presses and calf raises.

Like the baby, creativity is going to be key here in involving the preschooler safely and in a manner in which he’ll participate without undue stress or tantrums.

Asset: Baby

Yes, I can find a way to see the baby as an asset too.

He weighs about 25 pounds so I can always strap him too me and walk up and down the stairs for a workout.

I can use him as extra weight for squats and lunges too.

A baby on my knee could make for a good calf raise exercise.

Putting him in a baby carrier and curling him could be a good arm workout too.

Wearing him in a harness and just walking laps around the house could be a good walking workout.

As the weather improves, I can put him in a stroller and go running with him.

The key here will definitely be creativity.

Asset: Recumbent Bike

Published by t2lindahamilton under Assets Edit This

Now where did I put that thing?

Yeah, I know where it is.  It is in the dining room, collecting dust right along with the dining room table.  What can I say?

Once I dust off the recumbent bike and put it in front of the television, I’m certain it will be a tremendous asset toward meeting my goal.

Since I do have a pretty good winter going on where I live, anything that will add variety to my indoor aerobics workouts (so they don’t get stale) will be a definite plus.

I bought this recumbent bike at Wal Mart several years ago for less than $100.  I’m glad I have it!
