I’m still working on Phase I. I have yet to have two nights in a row where I get at least eight hours of sleep. I am feeling considerably more positive about this whole thing now that I’ve broken it down into smaller, more realistic steps. I thought I had the first plan broken down fairly well, but we just never know until we test it out. That plan just didn’t pass the test.By taking this one step at a time and harnessing the power of gradual progress, I think I’ll still be able to make my Christmas goal.

More sleep issues.
We’ve got the whole bedwetting thing under control now but there’s just no accounting for bad dreams. What are you gonna do? Of course you have to wake up for that stuff.
The baby is getting himself back to sleep much more quickly now so that is progress.
Eventually, the pressures of mommyhood, dealing with a significant loss of income, lack of sleep (and an inability to lose weight because of it) and the buildup of stress because of all of that will make any person crack.
Yesterday was my day to crack.
Welcome to the breakdown lane.

Let’s talk about sleep issues.
I have a four-year-old who in his four years has probably slept through so few nights of his life that I could count them on one hand.
Our baby just turned one year old and has been waking up no less than four times a night.
Seeing as how I haven’t slept through a night since early 2004, I’ve decided it is high time I get some sleep.
Call me cruel, but the four-year-old is going to have to learn how not to wet the bed when he has a bathroom attached to his room. (He refuses to wear pull ups or any other diaper type product.) The one-year-old is going to have to just cry it out and start doing his eating during the day. I can’t take another three years of this no sleeping crap.

It is one thing to fall off the wagon, but another thing entirely to get run over by it too!
Now, seriously, it isn’t that bad at all. Even after being sick and not counting carbs for several days, I’m still fine. I weighed myself this morning and I’m at 209, right where I left off before my sinuses and this cold took me on Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.
So, with nothing gained and nothing lost, I’m pretty happy to acknowledge that I’ve managed to hold steady.
I’m hoping that the combination of getting a little more sleep at night along with a resuming of carb counting will help me to keep losing weight and get back on track. I haven’t given up. I’ve just accepted that life happens and all we can do is just hold on as well as we can.

Sick, sick, sick!No progress at all to report today.
The excruciating, blinding, sinus headache of yesterday gave way to the sniffling, sneezing…well, you get the idea. With enough nose blowing today, I should be able to get back on track tomorrow.
Another great thing about tomorrow is the hubby’s vacation ends and I’ll be able to get the kids back on their regular routine. That should help me out immensely. My first week was jumbled and cluttered with holiday and post holiday doings as well as the entire family at home.
I have less than seven weeks to make something fantastic happen. I hope I can pull this off!
Stay tuned.

Rather than trying to fight it and continually losing the fight, I took yesterday as a full-blown cheat day. I carbed up. I think I’ll try taking another cheat day after I’ve done seven full days on the program. We’ll see if that helps me to stay in control.I think that another part of the problem is a cold I seem to be coming down with. I’ve never felt so much pain and pressure in my sinus area in my entire life. It really is ifficult to stay focused when you feel like poo. Hopefully, the Sudafed and cayenne pepper will help today.

Tough day, yesterday.
All I wanted was a cheat day and I finally took it. An extra bagel, some potato chips,
cheese and crackers, chocolate. I thought I could go through this without cheat days for
the first couple months but I think I’m going to have to factor them in just to stay in
control.Despite yesterday’s lapse (and that of the day before), I have to call this week a total
success.
Here are my measurements and how they stack up from my starting point:
Weight: 209 (lost 5 pounds)
Bodyfat: 41% (lost 1%)
Bust: 42 (lost 1 inch)
Waist: 37 (lost 2 inches)
Hips: 45 (lost 3 inches)
Thigh: 24 (no change)
Calf: 15.5 (lost 0.5 inches)
Bicep: 14 (no change)
My guess is that the three pounds lost that weren’t fat were water retention from all the
starch I was eating previously. (After all every molecule of starch holds on to two
molecules of water.)
Overall, in my first week, I’ve lost five pounds, 1% bodyfat and 6.5 inches! Definitely a
success.

Yesterday was just an ugly day.
There is no other way to describe it but U-G-L-Y!
Real life jumped on my head first thing in the morning, beat me with a stick until about mid day and then picked up a lead pipe to really let me have it in the afternoon.
I succumbed to the stress and had a late afternoon bowl of potato chips followed by a bagel with cream cheese. Finally, sedated by the starch, I also shared a glass of wine with my husband to usher in the New Year. After the day I’d had, a glass of wine was a pretty tame way to relax!
So I weighed in this morning at 210. Yes, I lost some ground but I got back on the wagon today.
Two steps forward and one step back is a process to be expected when you’re trying to move mountains and work miracles.
There is still a chance I could get back to 207 by Friday morning. (A pound a day, though ambitious, was my goal for initial weight loss.)
I’ll keep you posted!

Good day. It wasn’t without its problems but it worked out just fine.I stuck with the program and kept with my meal plan as I had planned it the night prior.
I did get a little exercise by walking around the zoo with my family but it certainly wasn’t high intensity exercise!
When I weighed myself this morning, I weighed 208. Yes, that is a one-pound gain from yesterday but I’m not letting it get me down. I’m still right on track to lose a total of seven pounds in seven days. (Remember, I won’t hit my seven day mark until Friday.)
I did lose another inch around my hips, so the day wasn’t a total bust. So far, I’m down a total of six pounds and three inches. Not bad for less than a week!

Sticking to it on my two ultra low carb days really paid off. I weighed in this morning at 207. That is a full seven pounds down from where I started last Friday. Seven pounds in less than a week feels good. It also tells me that I was holding on to some serious bloat from all the starchy carbs I generally consumed.
I didn’t take my measurements today although I did find the strength to actually look at myself in the mirror. It wasn’t entirely pleasant but it was a lot easier than it was a week ago! I’ll take my next full set of measurements on Friday when I reach the one-week mark.
